How To Blow Dry

This week we are taking you back to basics to master the blow dry! If you've always wanted to know how to create the smooth, sleek hair with a hairdryer alone then start swiping! We have also shared our top products picks to help your blow dry last

STEP 1

Apply a 10 cent piece of each Kerastase’s Ciment Thermique and Elixir Oil in your palm. Cocktail the products together and apply to mid lengths and ends on freshly washed, damp hair.

Kerastase Elixir Oil is great for deep nourishment while Ciment Thermique is for anti breakage and heat protection.

STEP 2

Without a brush just dry off your hair until it’s about 50% dry.

STEP 3

Take your first horizontal section from the top of both your ears.

STEP 4

Place your round brush under your section of hair. The section should be no wider than the nozzle of your hairdryer.

Direct the flow of air towards the hair that is sitting on the brush, yet slightly tilted down towards the floor. Start blowdrying the section of hair, starting at the roots and moving the brush and hairdryer down towards your ends. Continue this movement down the section of hair until it is all dry and hair is smooth and shiney.

Never place the end of the nozzle directly onto the hair, always leaving a minimum 3cm gap.

STEP 5

Take your next section from temple to temple like a horseshoe shape and continue with the same technique. Brush under the section of hair working slowly from hoots to ends until dry and smooth

STEP 6

Now you’re onto your last big section. Let down your hair and part it the way you want. Section out your fringe separately, this will be blow-dried differently, and continue the body of your hair with the same technique.

STEP 7

Now onto your fringe! Bring this section of your hair forward with the brush on top and blow dry towards the tip of the nose.

STEP 8

Once the roots are dry and smooth, part the hair. Hold the brush vertically, dragging the brush out and forward, flicking the ends back. Continue to do the same on both sides.

One side will be easier than the other. Keep practicing and don’t give up!
If you are really struggling and need to re-do one side wait for the hair to cool down before giving it another go.
